An arctic airmass blows into town- along with some accumulating snow!

The last time we saw over 3 inches in one storm was back in 2011; however, I think we will end this rut today. Cold air will continue to spill into the region as an arctic air mass brings gusty breezes and a solid snowstorm. Don’t look for flakes to fly in the early morning, but rather late morning and into the afternoon.
It will be a light and fluffy variety of snow that will pile up quickly and be prone to blow around in the biting wind. Speaking of the wind, it will make it feel like conditions in the teens and single digits. By tonight, snow ends with a solid 4 to 8 inches across the region (less south and east…possibly more just northwest in the “sweet spot”) before a frigid night sets in.
Sub zero chills are expected into Wednesday morning with mid-week highs only near 20 while chills remain low. Cold air lingers through the end of the week with another batch of flurries possible Thursday. Stay warm and safe and have a great day!
